What we cover
We focus on Ottawa's halal-certified and halal-friendly dining scene across all cuisines — Lebanese, Turkish, Pakistani, Afghan, Yemeni, Indian, Sri Lankan, Ethiopian, Italian, Vietnamese, smashburgers, and more. Our coverage area includes the City of Ottawa and adjacent communities (Orléans, Kanata, Barrhaven, Nepean, Gloucester, Vanier).
How the team works
The team is intentionally small. Every guide and listing is reviewed by an editor before publication. We use a shared internal checklist drawn from our public editorial standards before any restaurant is added or moved between halal categories.
- One editor owns identity verification (address, phone, hours).
- One editor owns the halal claim review and source link collection.
- One editor owns the cuisine and neighbourhood guides and their re-verification cadence.
Subject expertise
Our team draws on lived experience as Ottawa Muslim diners, conversations with halal suppliers and certifiers, and on-the-ground reporting from across the National Capital Region. We do not impersonate religious authority — for fiqh-level questions about specific certifications, we always defer to the operator and to recognised certification bodies such as HMA Canada and HFCC.
